Thank you to all the parents who offered to accompany us on our upcoming field trip.  Unfortunately, due to the amount of classes who are participating, we are limited to 5 adults per class.  When choosing parents to come on field trips, I try to be equitable and choose parents who haven't had the opportunity to work with class.  It is such an enriching experience for students to have their parents there, in addition to the benefit of parents seeing how their children interact with their peers in a classroom setting (which can be quite different than how they behave at home).  We will have several more field trips this year, so I'm hoping that I can accommodate all the parents who are available to take advantage of this opportunity.

Grade 5 parents, please be on the lookout for a notice coming home today with information regarding the late French immersion program which starts in grade 6.  Let me know if you have any questions about it.

Just a reminder that photo retakes will be happening tomorrow morning.

Just a reminder/FYI about Mr. Beveridge's blog in which he shares stories about Cleveland, and his thoughts on teaching and learning with our school community.

Time to start multiplication!  Students should be practicing their multiplication facts for a few minutes each night, focusing on the 6, 7, and 8 times tables and once up to 9 is mastered, the 10, 11, and 12 times tables.  Being able to recall these facts quickly is very important to almost all strands of math, including patterns, geometry, measurements, and of course multiplication and division.  Check out the math page for suggestions of websites for math games.  If you have a game or an app that your child uses, feel free to leave it in the comments section.

Tomorrow, we are headed to the library with Mme Blummel's grade 4/5 to hear from Eric Walters, popular children's author.  Be sure to ask your child about it after school!

As of today, I've started to wean the students off of having their agendas checked and stamped everyday by me.  I've based this on how well they've been filling out their agendas for the past week and how organized they've been.  There's still about 10 who aren't quite at the point where I feel like they can stay organized independently, so I will continue to look at and stamp their agendas until I feel like they can get down all the information they need by themselves.  The goal is to have everybody doing this independently by the end of the year.

If so, please contact Sarah Taylor at [email protected].  The intermediate route is still missing 13 volunteers.

Photo order forms must be returned to the school no later than Tuesday, September 25th.  Please get them in ASAP!

Hi everyone,

Just a heads up to let you know that we have 9 students absent today and 8 of them have reported having a stomach flu.  Please watch your children for symptoms and keep them home from school if they are not feeling well.  Thanks,

Jocelyn
