Warming up for the Terry Fox run!
On Thursday, the afternoon was spent at an assembly, learning about Terry Fox and hearing Rob Greene, a cancer survivor's inspirational talk.  Afterward, we braved the heat and did our own Terry Fox run.  Great job students!  If you haven't brought in money yet to donate to the Terry Fox foundation that funds cancer research, you still can on Monday.

We discussed this question in class, what do you think?

Today we attempted to make clouds in a jar.  The students were given the materials to the experiment and asked to hypothesize on what the actual process was.  3 groups decided to try putting some hot water in their jar, adding the ice cubes and then sealing the jar.  The other 2 groups decided to add the hot water to the jar, put the lid on and put the ice cubes on top of the lid.  Neither groups were able to produce clouds, but one method resulted in much more condensation.  Which one was it?

Today we learned a new math game called Pyramid as part of our Friday math period.  Students, explain this game to your parents, grandparents, or older siblings, and see if you can beat them!

Today we took advantage of the beautiful weather to experiment with thermometers.  The students were put into groups and asked to find the hottest and the coldest place on the school grounds.  There were some interesting locations tested, including the top of the space net, buried under the wood chips in the playground and in the shadiest parts of the forest.  Ultimately, the hottest place found they found was an incredible 53 degrees Celsius!  Be sure to ask your child where that was!
